"After Portland's Game 1 win with Andre Miller's 31 points and eight assists, Suns forward Grant Hill, coach Alvin Gentry and a few thousand Suns fans had the same idea: put the Suns' best defender on the player who hurt them the most, as Phoenix often had done with Hill on point guards.

"After Game 1, I went in and knocked on Alvin's door and said, 'Coach, I want to guard Andre,' and he said, 'We've already discussed it,' " Hill said. "I felt like I could free up Jason (Richardson) a little bit and let him go more on offense and I could use my length on him and keep him out of paint."

Richardson became the series' top scorer, averaging 23.5 points while making 22 of 43 3-pointers."
