And the second shoe has officially dropped.

Shortly after sending Shane Victorino to Los Angeles, the Phils traded Hunter Pence to San Francisco. In return they received catching prospect Tommy Joseph, outfielder Nate Schierholtz and pitcher Seth Rosin.

Selected by the Giants in the second round (55th overall) of the 2009 draft, Joseph in 80 games for Double-A Richmond is hitting .260 with eight homers and 38 RBIs.

After hitting .324 last season for the Phils in 54 games after being acquired at the trade deadline, Pence struggled this season without Chase Utley and Ryan Howard in the lineup. The power numbers are still there -- he has 17 homers and 59 RBIs -- but he's hitting only .271.
