"Having been a part of the biggest comeback in baseball playoff history, Pedro Martinez is hoping to avoid experiencing the wrong side of an epic collapse.
His Philadelphia Phillies lead the Dodgers, three games to one, in the National League Championship Series, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday evening at Citizens Bank Park.
Martinez pitched for Boston in 2004 when the Red Sox overcame a 3-0 series deficit to defeat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
Also on that team: current Dodgers Manny Ramirez and Doug Mientkiewicz.
"Manny is a guy who has been through everything and so has Doug," Martinez said Tuesday. "They can be really inspirational to those guys and I wouldn't be surprised if they do something to call it to their attention and turn them around. I hope they don't, to be honest.""
