Ryan Howard batted cleanup for the Phillies on Opening Day, going 2-for-5 with a walk (and three strikeouts) in a wild 14-10 win over the Rangers, but manager Ryne Sandberg is switching things up for Game 2 tonight.

Sandberg has moved Marlon Byrd into the cleanup spot against Rangers left-hander Martin Perez, sliding Howard down into the fifth spot.

And as Todd Zolecki of MLB.com points out, it’s the first time Howard has started anywhere but the cleanup spot for the Phillies since way back in 2008. June 29, 2008 to be exact.
