Percy Harvin overcame migraine-like symptoms to star Sunday

"Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin suffered migraine-like symptoms Saturday, according to a person close to the situation, and still was able to catch eight passes for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 35-32 loss to the Denver Broncos at the Metrodome.

The symptoms were similar to Harvin's past struggles with migraines, according to the unnamed person, including bloodshot eyes and vomiting. Harvin did not participate in Saturday's walkthrough, and the Vikings were prepared to play with three receivers.

Harvin's well-publicized headaches have plagued the receiver for much of his life, but he was optimistic entering the season that doctors had found ways to help prevent future migraines. During his first two NFL seasons (2009-10), migraines caused Harvin to miss three games and numerous practices.

Shortly after Harvin missed practice last Friday because of an illness, coach Leslie Frazier said he was led to believe migraines were not the cause.

When asked Thursday about Harvin, Frazier said, "To my knowledge, they treated it as an illness and got him ready to play." "
