Thomas Vanek remains one of the biggest names on the trading block and any team looking to boost scoring has to be thinking about making a deal with the New York Islanders to acquire the productive veteran. According to Chris Botta of Sports Business Journal and a former Islanders employee, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings are pursuing Vanek.

Pittsburgh jumping in is awfully interesting, seeing as they don't need a lot of help in their top six. Sure, you can never have enough scoring, but a lack of depth seems more like the glaring hole for the Penguins.

The price tag could end up being prohibitive, unless the Pens are backing off going after Ryan Kesler, a player they have reportedly aggressively pursued.

The Kings have always made sense as a possible destination for Vanek as their goal scoring has been a major issue all season.
