"Someone asked Brett Myers if he'd thought much about Wednesday's home game possibly being his last for the Astros.
"I'm not worried about that," he said. "It is what it is."
How about you, Michael Bourn?
"You can't help but think about it," he said. "That's natural."
Bourn said he would prefer to remain with the Astros. So would Hunter Pence. Here's hoping they get their wish.
But change is on the way.
Manager Brad Mills has urged his players to focus on the things they can control, but that's going to be a tall order as the July 31 trading deadline approaches.
The Astros are on pace for 107 losses, which would be 10 more than the worst of the franchise's previous 49 teams suffered.
Those of us who thought the Astros could be competitive this season look like fools. Thankfully, I've had some experience in this area. This team has been so dreadful in so many areas that management has no choice but to face the tough reality of what's ahead.
So general manager Ed Wade has been given the go-ahead to blow the whole thing up and has let contending teams know he's willing to discuss every player on his roster. He's unlikely to trade Jordan Lyles and Bud Norris, but the Astros are in no position to make anyone untouchable.
Well, except for Carlos Lee, who has $25 million remaining on his contract and the right to veto any deal. He's also on a pace to belt a career-low 12 home runs."
