"First baseman Carlos Pena said he was happy to still be a Cub on Sunday, and hopes to return next year.

If the Cubs can't afford to get in on the Prince Fielder sweepstakes, it's likely they will re-sign Pena, who shares Fielder's agent, Scott Boras.

Either way, Pena was glad general manager Jim Hendry didn't make changes for change's sake.

"I'd rather have someone really working toward our common goal, instead of (trading players) just for show," he said. "Our GM is not like that. He's not trying to 'look' like he's working. He's working. It's totally different than (thinking) 'I can fool the world by switching a couple pieces here,' and it really looks like he's making moves, making changes.
