The New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Eric Gordon underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on Thursday to remove particles of scar tissue in his left ankle to alleviate pain. The procedure was considered minor and was performed by Dr. Richard Ferkel of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, according to team officials.

Gordon is currently recovering from the procedure and will begin rehabilitation immediately while returning to basketball activities later in the summer.

Gordon led the Hornets with a 17.0 scoring average this season, but he missed 40 games due to a right knee injury and had strict restrictions imposed by team doctors that held him out of the second game of back-to-back sets to avoid overworking his knee.
