Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk is one of three finalists for the Frank Selke Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL's best defensive forward.

Datsyuk will get a stiff challenge this season, though, from Livonia's Ryan Kesler (Vancouver Canucks), who appears to be the favorite. Chicago's Jonathan Toews is the third finalist.

"It's nice to be nominated, now I'm going to try to win it," said Datsyuk, whose chances could be dimmed by the fact he only played 56 games because injuries. "I have good competition almost every year. It's harder and harder. I'm happy for the nomination, that's the first step.

Datsyuk would become the second player to win the award four consecutive seasons. Bob Gainey of the Montreal Canadiens won it the first four seasons it was presented, from 1978-81.
