Tucked in a small corner of Bokamper's Sports Bar and Grill, the mother of Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder is doing her best to explain as patiently and simply as possible the sport she loves to half a dozen female "students."
"This is a football," Crowder says, holding up one of several visual aids she uses each week in Football 101 for Women and Friends. "I told you it was basic."
Wearing black shorts and her son's No. 52 jersey, she goes on to describe the football's texture, laces and insides, then moves on to the game's history, scoring, basic rules and other assorted topics in a fast-paced talk that lasts nearly 90 minutes. "
