Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny will be out about 10 days with a bruised left foot, the team said Monday.
Stastny suffered the injury Sunday night against Vancouver, after blocking a slap shot from the Canucks' Jason Garrison. Stastny had not missed a game previously this season.
The Avs also will be without defenseman Ryan Wilson indefinitely, after he re-injured an ankle against Vancouver. To take Wilson's roster spot, the Avs recalled Tyson Barrie from Lake Erie of the American Hockey League.
Barrie had missed some time with the Monsters of late with a hip injury, but is OK now.
Stastny's injury means Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly will be the top two centers for a while. The Avs took Monday off from practice, but will be back at it Tuesday. The team has lost six of their past seven games and is in last place in the Western Conference.
Coach Quinn leaving. Avalanche assistant coach David Quinn was hired by Boston University Monday to succeed Jack Parker as head coach.
He will finish out the season as an assistant with the Avs before assuming full-time duties with BU.
