The bad news is Chris Paul didn't practice Friday as the Clippers prepared for their first-round Western Conference playoff opener Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The good news is it was for precautionary reasons only.

Paul, who sat out Wednesday's regular-season finale against the New York Knicks with a strained left groin, expects to be in the lineup Sunday and reported the injury is coming along nicely.

"I'm feeling better," Paul said after the Clippers concluded an afternoon workout. "I keep getting treatment, and as soon as I finish (talking to reporters), I've got an appointment."

Paul faced a difficult decision Wednesday sitting out against the Knicks, with the Clippers needing a win to clinch home-court advantage against Memphis and knowing a loss would likely relinquish it to the Grizzlies.

As it was, they lost in New York and the Grizzlies beat Orlando a day later to take control of home court in the seven-game series.
