Tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola have been listed by the Patriots as doubtful to play in Thursday night's home opener against the Jets. They are two of 14 players on the injury report but only one of the 14 has been ruled out: running back Shane Vereen who broke a bone in his wrist during the season opener against the Bills and was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.

Gronkowski hasn't played since reinjuring his forearm in last season's playoff game against the Texans. He has practiced the past two weeks but isn't expected to play against the Jets.

Amendola aggravated a groin injury in the win at Buffalo. He has taken part in the team's three walkthrough workouts this week but also isn't expected to play Thursday night.

The absence of Vereen (101 rushing yards against the Bills) and likely absence of Amendola (104 receiving yards) leaves the Patriots in a tough spot. Running back Stevan Ridley could be in the mix for a big game but he's also on the injury report listed as probable with a shoulder injury.
