"When New Orleans safety Roman Harper leveled receiver Steve Smith in the end zone after the Panthers' first touchdown Sunday, it sparked a scuffle involving several players from both teams.
Smith had pulled up after crossing the goal line when Harper ran in from behind him and laid Smith out. Smith popped back up and spun the ball in celebration after officials hit Harper with a 15-yard personal foul penalty.
"(I) wasn't really expecting it," Smith said. "To say it was a cheap shot, I don't really understand the reason why. But that's just his game. That's his thing. I guess he wants to intimidate."
