Panthers sign QB; announce top three RBs are out

"The Panthers signed a veteran quarterback to their practice squad, although Brian St. Pierre is not long on game experience.

St. Pierre, who played at Boston College, has appeared in two games and attempted five passes in seven NFL seasons. His previous stops were in Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Arizona.

Carolina waived linebacker Sean Ware from the practice squad to make room for St. Pierre.

"He's a younger player that's had some playing time (who) we've got some familiarity with on our staff," Panthers coach John Fox said Friday. "It gives us a third quarterback in the building learning our offense."

Younger player? St. Pierre turns 31 later this month.

"He's not a 14-year vet," said Fox."
