"The Panthers released rookie linebacker Lawrence Wilson on Tuesday, six days after the practice-squad player was charged with speeding and possession of marijuana.

It was one of several personnel moves made by the Panthers, who return to action against Tennessee on Sunday following last week's bye week.

Wilson was stopped on I-85 near Salisbury for driving 76 mph in a 65-mph zone last Wednesday, just hours after Panthers coach Ron Rivera advised his players to avoid trouble during a four-day break."
