The Panthers' introductory video before their long-awaited season opener was, 'We Want More,' and after nearly nine months since their last thrilling, yet heartbreaking game, the hockey-starved fan base got just that and well … more in a 5-1 thrashing of the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night at a sold-out BB&T Center.

The 19,688 in attendance, who seemed to forgive if not forget the 119-day bitter lockout, got more than just an emotional pregame ceremony in which the Panthers skated out to center ice one by one to join loyal season ticket-holders before they proudly looked up to the rafters for the unveiling of the franchise's first Southeast Division championship.

They got much more than expected from a team that was 27th in the league in scoring and was missing six regulars, including top-line forward Kris Versteeg - who seemed frustrated in the pressbox while nursing a groin pull - as well as three core defensemen.
