Dan Petrescu will say ‘yes’ to Crystal Palace and become their next manager - if he is offered a long-term deal.

The former Chelsea defender is prepared to come back to England from Russian side Dinamo Moscow and is the south Londoners' new first choice to succeed Ian Holloway, as we revealed.

However, Petrescu will not quit his well-paid post in Moscow unless Palace are talking about a two- or three-year stay.

Selhurst Park supremo Steve Parish is impressed with the 45-year-old Romanian's CV as a coach in his homeland, Poland and Russia but is yet to decide whether to make a short- or long-term appointment.

Parish is also considering a ‘firefighter’ to come in for the rest of the season in a bid to fight relegation straight back to the Championship, with Iain Dowie a contender for such a role.
