Painful night for Nate Robinson

"It was a rough night for Nate Robinson, who left some of his blood — and nearly a lot more — on the Conseco Fieldhouse floor.

Robinson, who came in battling a stomach flu, picked up six stitches above his left eye when he butted heads with Mike Dunleavy with 4:21 left in the third quarter of the Celtics' 95-83 win over the Indiana Pacers. He went to the dressing room for a bandage (the sutures came later) and came back to the bench, but he didn't play the rest of the night.

"I was really surprised both of them were standing because that was a hard head-butt," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "They both took it hard."

Dunleavy required stitches above his right eye.

Robinson's eye was swollen afterward from the numbing agent. He plans to play tonight against the Detroit Pistons, however.

"I don't remember what happened," Robinson, who finished with eight points and four assists, said. "I just remember the blood and running to the back.

"I'm tough. It ain't like I never had stitches before. It's nothing. I guess I get a little bit of sympathy from the ladies, so I'm good. I'm good."

Robinson also ran to the dressing room when he took a hit in the second quarter that roused his illness."
