Packers' Jennings juiced after juggling act

"The offensive play that finally got the Green Bay Packers going in their 31-3 walkover of the Minnesota Vikings did not occur until early in the second quarter.

On third and 9 from his own 24-yard line, Aaron Rodgers went up top to Greg Jennings, who was streaking down the sideline.

Burning Vikings rookie cornerback Chris Cook for the first of many times Sunday at the Metrodome, Jennings hauled in the pass for 47 yards.

It not only was the breakout play for the Packers, it was the moment that also got Jennings going.

Jennings scorched the Vikings with seven catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns, but he wasn't altogether pleased with the play that got the lid off for him and his team.

"I was obviously disappointed," Jennings said. "Had I not juggled the ball I might have scored. I don't like to be a juggler during the game. That wasn't planned.

If it took that to get us going, we were able to roll after that."

Of course, Jennings was smiling when he said it.

It was a massive game for the Packers and Jennings, who has a little bit of history in this place. Once upon a time, he caught Brett Favre's NFL-record touchdown pass in the Metrodome. This time, he helped the Packers firmly establish themselves while taking Favre's Vikings out of the picture.

"We had that mind-set," he said. "That swagger kicks in. We knew they were down. We talked about that all week. We wanted to implant our will."

That they did after a slow start against the Vikings. And after a slow start to his season, Jennings has come on as a major part of the offense once again.

"Greg is outstanding, the routes he runs and the yards after catch," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "We thought they'd play us one-on-one in space. We took advantage."

Jennings had touchdown catches of 11, 46 and 22 yards from Rodgers. The long one came on Green Bay's first drive of the second half, when the Packers cracked the game wide open."
