"New Orleans Hornets power forward David West has opted out of his contract for next season in order to become a free agent on July 1. However, the current CBA also ends then so he will be in limbo as to where he'll end up till a new CBA Is agreed upon. That will give his knee time to heal from surgery as well.
Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets "are two teams with significant salary-cap space and a strong interest in signing West, league sources said."
One thing the Nets have going for them, Wojnarowski points out, is that West grew up in Jersey "and has always been fond of the metropolitan New York area." "
