Arsenal are set to be without Mesut Ozil for a minimum of three weeks, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The £42million playmaker was taken off at half time against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night as the Gunners exited the Champions League.

The decision appeared a tactical one after yet another lacklustre performance from Ozil but his boss insisted he had picked up a serious injury.

And those fears have been confirmed, with the German midfielder set to sit out as many as five matches - starting with this weekend's North London derby.

Wenger said: "We lose Ozil, who has been injured for Sunday, I don't know how long he will be out but it looks a minimum of three weeks.
