Two days before LaVar Ball’s big night, fathers of NBA draft prospects suddenly are challenging him for the spotlight.

Aaron Fox led the charge with a scathing takedown of the basketball dad everyone loves to hate. The father of former Kentucky star De’Aaron Fox, a projected top-5 pick, explained why he believes his son is a better talent than Ball’s son, Lonzo, continuing an argument Ball started during the college season.

“My son already ate his ass up twice,” Aaron Fox said in Bleacher Report feature on De’Aaron published Tuesday. “[LaVar] can say what he wants to say. I just tell him to go back and watch the film. That’s it.”

If De’Aaron Fox hadn’t been on NBA teams’ radars during his freshman season, he was after outplaying Lonzo Ball in Kentucky’s Sweet 16 win over UCLA. Fox scored 39 points to Ball’s 10 in a 86-75 win. The Bruins did get the best of the Wildcats during the regular season, although Fox again scored more points (20) than Ball (14).

“All that yap, yap, yapping, I don’t even got to respond to that,” Aaron Fox said. “We played them twice. Twice his son got outplayed. I always tell [De’Aaron], let your game speak for it. You ain’t got to talk. You ain’t got to fuss.”
