The Baltimore Orioles on Friday reinstated shortstop J.J. Hardy from the 60-day disabled list and designated left-handed pitcher Andrew Faulkner for assignment, the team announced. The veteran infielder has been out since mid-June with a fractured wrist and experienced discomfort in his elbow throughout the recovery process.

“I’m getting better,” Hardy said on Sunday, per MLB.com. “The wrist isn’t really an issue. The shoulder was an issue for a little bit, but now it’s the forearm. Kind of tennis elbow stuff. Got that shot [Friday] and I’m gonna start throwing today and probably start swinging tomorrow and see where we’re at.”

Hardy recently received a cortisone shot in order to heal faster and get on the diamond.
