As the Washington Redskins wrapped up their offseason practices this week, linebacker Brian Orakpo said he’s not fretting about his contract situation or focusing on whether any negotiating progress will be made toward a new deal before training camp begins late next month.

“I’m not worried about it,” Orakpo said. “I’m concentrating on having a successful season. Everything will take care of itself.”

The Redskins finished a two-day minicamp this week. Players are off until training camp, which is scheduled to begin July 25.

Orakpo is entering the final season of his contract and, without an extension, would be eligible for unrestricted free agency next offseason. The Redskins hope his return as a pass-rushing presence will bolster a defense that ranked 30th in the league against the pass last season.
