"Darren Oliver is headed to the Toronto Blue Jays.The veteran left-handed reliever expressed interest in returning to the Texas Rangers earlier this off-season, but they never made a formal offer.Instead, Oliver accepted a one-year contract with the Blue Jays on Friday, according to a source. The deal is pending a physical and, assuming Oliver passes, the Rangers will receive a supplemental first round pick in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft.Oliver, a Southlake resident originally drafted by the Rangers in 1988, spent the past two seasons with the organization. He went 5-5 with a 2.29 ERA in 61 games last season, holding left-handed batters to an average of .227.In the postseason, Oliver had a chance to close out the Rangers first World Series title in Game 6. He came in for the 10th inning with a two-run lead, but was charged with the tying runs and recorded only one out. The St. Louis Cardinals went on to win the game, and then the series in Game 7."
