"O.J. Mayo used to strongly pledge his allegiance to the Grizzlies whenever his name surfaced in trade rumors.
Now the Griz guard sounds a bit indifferent when reacting to a report that he could be involved in a potential Carmelo Anthony deal.
"You have to come to work every day and stay focused, and keep a winning mindset," Mayo said Friday after the Griz prepared to face the Dallas Mavericks tonight in FedExForum. "If something was to happen, I just hope it's to a winning organization. I just want to be part of an organization that's winning. But for the time being, I'm happy here in Memphis."
Griz brass strongly stated that there is no intention to trade Mayo despite the latest noise created by an ESPN.com article. The report said the New York Knicks tried to enlist Memphis (with Mayo) to complete a three-way deal in order to land Denver's Anthony.
Griz general manager Chris Wallace said he hasn't had any conversations with New York or Denver in that regard. Knicks boss Donnie Walsh also chimed in by telling New York media there was no truth to the report."
