Late in the second quarter against Washington on Tuesday, if you were watching the game, you saw two of the prettiest passes you'll ever see when Jason Kidd threaded the needle for a Brendan Haywood dunk, then found Shawn Marion on the baseline for another point-blank bucket.

If you were at the game, you heard the crowd do a collective "whoa!'' when Kidd hit Haywood in the gut with a perfect pass that left him lonely under the basket for his completely uncontested slam.

It was the sort of play from Kidd that we've seen for nearly two decades, but it never gets old and it always deserves a spot on the highlight reel.

It also helped the Mavericks turn a 1-point game into a 10-point lead before halftime.

What you heard if you were at the game was not nearly as good as the pass you saw. The public-address screamer -- and that's all Mark Cuban and all the other owners have now is screamers, not announcers -- described the play thusly: "BRENDAN HAYWOOD... from Jason Kidd.''
