"Oakland University senior center Keith Benson will take his nearly 7-foot-4 wingspan to the the Atlanta Hawks.
After being passed over in the first round, and by the Pistons with the 33rd overall pick, Benson was selected 48th overall in tonight's NBA Draft.
He became the first player from Oakland University drafted in the NBA.
ESPN analyst Jay Bilas said the question with Benson is "how high does that motor of his rev?"
Oakland coach Greg Kampe said he's never spoken to Bilas about Benson and wasn't happy to hear such criticism of his player, the two-time Summit League player of the year.
"I think they've never coached him and have no clue what they're talking about," Kampe said. "I coached the guy for five years. I would know about his motor and his toughness.
"I wish he would have called me and asked me before he goes on and says that. That motivation has been there. He's been motivated to play in the NBA and turned himself from a guy that averaged five points a game in high school to an NBA player. When they talk about lack of toughness and motor, tell me about that. Atlanta will find out when they get him how good of a player he is." "
