"For the majority of yesterday's 30-21 loss to the Patriots, the odd man out in the Jets' three-receiver sets was veteran Derrick Mason.

The Daily News reported yesterday that Mason, along with fellow receivers Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes, had complained to Rex Ryan about coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. After the game, Mason denied meeting with Ryan and denied that his benching was related to any comments he made.

"It was coincidence," Mason said of his benching."
