For most high school seniors, prom is a night they will never forget. But for Bayonne teen Lauren Delbert, the night was made even more special by Giants punter Steve Weatherford.

On April 18, Delbert sent out a message via Twitter to Weatherford asking if he'd like to go to the prom with her. Shortly after, he accepted.

"Meeting Lauren and her family has been the best part, getting the chance to go to prom with her," Weatherford said last night. "If I could make her night and make her prom more special, mission accomplished."

This wasn't the first time the duo had met. Delbert and her family recently attended an autism awareness event, and unbeknownst to them, Weatherford was the guest speaker.

Lauren walked up to Weatherford and said "Hi prom date," according to her mother Peggy, and Weatherford "gave her a big hug."

The two would reunite yesterday afternoon at Delbert's home on Humphrey Avenue.

Delbert and her boyfriend, Stephen Schumann, took pictures while scores of friends, family and neighbors waited patiently outside for Weatherford to arrive. This was no average front-lawn, prom day photo op.

Weatherford arrived 30 minutes late, but in style, driving a white convertible Ferrari – Delbert's pick.

She presented Weatherford with a football-like corsage, along a real football that read: "Thanks for kicking off prom with me."

During pictures, Weatherford put his Super Bowl ring on Lauren's mom and said to dad: "I'm taking your daughter to prom and now I'm stealing your wife."
