Nuggets rookie Evan Fournier hasn't been given much playing time this season, but the 20-year-old Frenchman has a big supporter in friend and countryman Nicolas Batum of the Trail Blazers.

Before this June's draft, Batum spoke highly of Fournier to several media outlets, complementing his game and comparing his swagger to that of a young Tony Parker.

"It's cool that he did that," Fournier said at Thursday morning's shootaround. "If Nic says good things about you, that's great. I thank him for that."

Batum, 24, signed a four-year, $44 million extension with the Trail Blazers during the summer. He's averaging nearly 16 points and six rebounds per game this season. The Nuggets took Fournier with the 20th pick in June's draft, but he's been seldom used on a deep roster, playing in just one of the team's last nine games and eight overall.

Fournier said Batum is "very open" and that they've talked periodically during the season, though the focus isn't usually on basketball.

"We talk mostly about video games and our dogs," Fournier said.
