"The Grizzlies gave Zach Randolph some space to work with, and their strapping power forward plowed a road back to Oklahoma City for a Game 7.
Randolph put together a 30-point, 13-rebound performance that guided the Grizzlies to a 95-83 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinal Friday night in FedExForum.
Memphis tied the series 3-3, and will play the deciding game Sunday at Oklahoma City for a chance to meet the Dallas Mavericks in the conference final.
Randolph had been limited to 31-percent shooting over the previous four games. This time, he made 12 of 22 shots and scored 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Grizzlies pulled away.
"He never fails," Griz guard O.J. Mayo said. "He's played so many incredible games. He's carried us down the stretch so many times. He just never fails."
And the Griz never cease to amaze.
Seemingly down and out with a 10-point deficit at halftime, the Griz outscored the Thunder 51-29 in the second half before a fired-up sellout crowd. The game began with another surprise, as Griz coach Lionel Hollins started Mayo in place of Sam Young.
The move allowed Randolph to get going early. And Randolph couldn't have finished stronger, posting his fourth 30-10 game this postseason and third against the Thunder.
"I definitely wanted to be aggressive," Randolph said. "I wanted to assert myself early, and it worked out pretty well."
After shooting less than 40 percent in the pervious three games, the Griz connected on 43 percent. Mayo added 16 points."
