Obviously, with Nellie [Cruz] going out like he is, not knowing when he's going to be back and we've got a tough schedule ahead of us, anything we can do to help the ballclub we're certainly going to look at it. And Lance is having an outstanding year with the Cardinals. So is that a possibility? I guess you could say it's remote. There's going to be other people that cleared waivers that might be out there too. It'd be premature for me to make any kind of predictions. But with a player of Lance's caliber, if that's a possibility, you certainly have to give it consideration.

On why Nelson Cruz has had so many leg injuries and what can be done about them:

We've put him with running coaches. Ron has tried to rest people when he can and tried to work through the entire starting staff as far as position players are concerned – give them days off, try to get them off their legs … And I think that under the circumstances that we've been playing under for so long now, with the heat that we've been dealing with and these extended home stands in the heat, I just think that we're more susceptible to leg pulls because of that."
