No sane reason for Rockies to trade pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez at age 27

"OK, let's dispense with this cockamamie notion of trading Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez to the New York Yankees in one word:

Fuhgeddaboudit.

If Jimenez goes, then the next person out the door at Coors Field should be general manager Dan O'Dowd.

Weren't the Big O's of Ubaldo, Tulo and CarGo going to lead Colorado to the World Series?

But after fewer than 100 games in this smelly season, the grand design of a team built around Jimenez, Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez is going be tossed in the trash bin so the Rockies can rebuild again?

Fuhgeddaboudit.

Trading Jimenez would be an insult to the 35,000 fans who have shown up night after night despite the Rockies playing a brand of baseball that is far too often a waste of every customer's time and money.

Do all these good people lining the pockets of team ownership with cash really look so gullible? Todd Helton and the rest of us are all too old to raise another group of raw prospects who will be playoff-ready in about 2014.

After losing 7-4 on a miserably hot Monday night to Atlanta, the Rockies are stuck with a 45-51 record. It's difficult to fathom how Colorado will be substantially better anytime soon without Jimenez in the starting rotation.

"Unfortunately, the best teacher of know-how is failure. It's hard thing for me to say to you. But it is reality. That's how players grow," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said.

And we're going to start that painful learning process over again by trading Jimenez?

Sorry. Not interested.

Generation R had a future of false hope. Todd and the Toddlers gave us all gray hair. Only a fool would buy yet another overhaul from a team that has been rebuilt more often than the transmission in '72 Chevy."
