No more Pacman for Adam Jones

"Adam Jones is enjoying being on the field again.

After giving a brief statement last Tuesday, Jones spent 15 minutes on Wednesday with reporters on a variety of subjects, including what he has to do to make the roster and the changes he has made off the field after playing in only nine games the past three years.

"I'm 26 years old now, so I can't do the same things I was doing at 21, or I'm going to be dead or in jail," Jones said. "I know what my passion is, and my passion is football. I know what I've got to do to keep playing football, and that's what I'm working on doing."

Jones also said that he is treating football more like a business, which is one of the biggest reasons why "Pacman" is gone and why he prefers to be called Adam.

It's just one part of an evolution that took place since his release from the Cowboys last March where he has learned to take football more serious.

He also understands that no matter where he signed, there wasn't going to be a low profile and that the road to repairing his image is not going to happen overnight.

Jones hammered home that point when he was asked if Cincinnati has a lower-profile team than Dallas.

"Low profile for Adam Jones is not in America. Maybe in Puerto Rico or something or not even there. Where you want to say? The UK? I know there's an eye on me for all times."

During that time away from the game, Jones said he did a lot of soul searching and spent time with his family (he has a daughter, 4, who lives in Atlanta, and a fiancé who is expecting).

He said missing the 2009 season was miserable but learned after making a bunch of "dumb decisions", which included having a lot of friends and keeping large entourages.

Jones alluded to the fact that now most of his cars are two-seaters, which is more than enough room for him and his fiancé to drive around town."
