"Twitter followers know this already, but Sharks goaltender Antero Niittymaki has cleared waivers.

When I reached Niittymaki, who is spending the All-Star Break in Lake Tahoe, he didn't sound too surprised that he had not been claimed. And he has no idea what happens next.

"You have to ask Mr. Wilson," Niittymaki said of Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "We'll see. I know they've been working hard to find a place for me to play. It's probably not as easy as it sounds because I've been out with the (hip) surgery and I've only played games in the minors."

Wilson is traveling to the All-Star Game in Ottawa. But Wednesday, he described placing Niittymaki as "the next step in the process" of trying to move the goaltender."
