Manchester City have joined the race to sign Italy striker Andrea Belotti as Torino’s president claims his £86million buyout clause is too cheap.

Belotti scored an eight-minute hat-trick for Joe Hart’s side against Palermo on Sunday to take his tally to 22 in 24 Serie A games this season. The England goalkeeper said: “He is a special player.”

The 23-year-old signed a new contract in January with an £86m buyout clause for non-Italian clubs with Chelsea and Arsenal also tracking him along with Real Madrid.

Torino president Urbano Cairo said: “I don’t think we can raise the clause now, as we only just signed the contract and we have to respect it.
