"Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is following the schedule he set for himself this week, which he feels will result in him being able to play Sunday in San Francisco against the 49ers.

Nicks on Thursday was on the field for practice, participating in individual drills, just as he said he would be a day earlier. He is coming back from a sore hamstring, an injury that kept him out of last week's victory in New England.

He tested his leg by running on the side Tuesday and again Wednesday and reported no setbacks, saying he opened up to full speed and did not have any discomfort. Nicks said he is concentrating on not rushing back too soon, fearing he could hurt the hamstring further, but he appears on schedule to get back on the field after missing one game."
