Nick Swisher had the bleacher fans back on his side, at least for a day. After four years as a Yankee, Swisher waved his hand to acknowledge a nice ovation before his first Stadium at-bat as a Cleveland Indian.

And when he took his position at first base, Swisher gave a crisp salute in response to the bleacher fans chanting his name – just like old times during the first-inning roll call.

The chants and the cheers were a far cry from last October, when Swisher’s latest poor playoff performance elicited some harsh responses from the bleachers. Swisher complained about the treatment and ceased his usual interaction with the crowd.

Swisher was miffed when the subject came up before Monday’s game. "Live in the now, bro. You’re just trying to stir it up again, man.’’
