On the very same day that he was arrested and charged with murder the Patriots released tight end Aaron Hernandez. At that moment it was clear that any future payment of monies owed would not come easy from New England.

The drawing of the battle lines for Hernandez' cash has begun with Mike Garafalo of FOX Sports reporting the NFLPA is preparing to file a grievance against the Patriots for not paying Hernandez an $82000 workout bonus.

Garafalo reports the union believes Hernandez despite being arrested satisfied the requirements to receive the bonus from New England.

The Patriots didn't comment on whether or not the bonus had been paid or would be paid.

$82000 is obviously a lot of money. But this grievance primarily sets the stage for future larger money owed to Hernandez -- the Pats owe him $3.25 million in bonus money next March.
