NFL stars gather in Pahokee for Anquan Boldin Foundation charity events

"It didn't take long for Anquan Boldin's spirit of goodwill to spread to his fellow NFL players in town for Q-Fest, Boldin's charity weekend.

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis needed only one look at the two-year-old football stadium at Pahokee High, named 'Anquan Boldin Stadium,' to make him realize how much impact one star NFL player can have on his community.

"I see Anquan Boldin Stadium, and it's like, 'Whoa.' It makes you realize how much he means to the people here," Revis said before Friday night's charity basketball game at the high school. "I got to go back to my high school and try to get my own stadium!"

Friday night's game was the signature event of Boldin's seventh annual Q-Fest, which also included a golf tournament on Thursday and a Day in the Park today for children in Pahokee.

Surprisingly, most of the 20 NFL players who came to the event played in the basketball game, even though an offseason injury could hamper their 2011 season and cost them money. Under the previous collective bargaining agreement, a player injured in the offseason can have his contract voided by his team. And just two weeks ago, former Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington tore his ACL while playing pickup basketball.

However, all the players emerged from the game unscathed.

"The guys that we have are pretty smart," Boldin said. "They know it's a charity game. We're not out here trying to win an NBA championship."
