"Cam Newton is not a paid endorser for Gatorade. Maybe he should be.

After a bad series - and there were a lot of them in Sunday's 30-3 loss to Tennessee - the Panthers' rookie quarterback retreated to the bench and put a white Gatorade towel over his head.

Newton's reaction to poor plays and losses has struck a nerve among some fans, who have been critical of Newton's body language on the sideline.

But Newton, who lost only one game his final two college seasons, made no apologies Wednesday for how he handles losing.

"This is something that I'm not used to and it's something that I'm not going to get used to," Newton said. "So you look at it as poor leadership. You look at it as sore loser. I'd rather be a sore loser than anything.""
