Much like Adam “Pacman” Jones tweeted last week that he was returning to the Bengals, Terence Newman did the same thing late Friday night.

Said Newman in two tweets: “After much time and thought, I’m heading back to Cincy. And for those of you who think it was about money, the Raiders offered more.

“I came in with Mike Zimmer and feel its only right that I leave as him coaching me. Thanks to Raiders Nation for showing me such love.”

Originally reported by NFL Network and confirmed to The Enquirer via a league source, Newman has agreed to a two-year deal worth $5 million, including $3 million in 2013. It is expected to be finalized next week.

After being released by Dallas last March, Newman signed with the Bengals just before the start of the offseason conditioning program. Said Zimmer at the time: “I talked to several people that saw him play and they think he can still be productive. I know what kind of player and person he is. He has a great heart. Sometimes you gamble on heart but most of the time you end up winning those.”
