Newcastle United ARE interested in Cenk Tosun – and ran the rule over the striker on Champions League duty recently.

Tosun is on Benitez’s list of possible striker targets in January but it’s understood that the price quoted for the Turkey forward is too expensive at the moment. Besiktas are quoting around £17million for the striker, believing that his Champions League pedigree justifies a fee that would outstrip anything United have spent since Michael Owen’s club record move from Real Madrid.

Benitez wants TWO strikers and a number ten but with budgetary constraints, he knows that he may have to move on players if no takeover has been brokered in time for the January window.
