"Two days after the Jets released veteran wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, Gang Green agreed to terms with free agent Derrick Mason Saturday.

"Jet fuel is full time to fly!!!" Mason tweeted.

The Daily News first reported Friday that the Jets had extended an offer to Mason, who was released by the Ravens two weeks ago and visited the Jets' facility for a physical on Thursday. The Jets' decision to part ways with Cotchery, who had asked to be traded in February, before hearing back from Mason put the organization in a precarious position.

"I'd obviously like to get Derrick right now," Rex Ryan said on Friday. "But he's got other teams. ... I'm sure he'd have to leave money on the table to come here."

Mason had 61 receptions for 802 yards and seven touchdowns last season for the Ravens."
