The Rangers tentative plan once Nelson Cruz got back into the lineup Saturday was for him to play two games as the DH, then move to the outfield.

There is a reason the plan was tentative.

After watching Cruz move for one day, manager Ron Washington suggested it was quite possible he might push the outfield return back some. Cruz, who was 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts on Saturday, is hitting eighth today. Washington said Cruz was rusty in his first game back without the benefit of a rehab assignment. Washington said it maight take 10-12 at-bats before Cruz gets his timing back.

Washington said Cruz might DH all the way through the Oakland series and not return to the outfield until the Rangers return from their road trip to face Seattle on Friday.
