Rick Nash's resume of international play already was impressive. This World Championship, which begins Friday in Slovakia, is the seventh major international tournament in which he has represented Team Canada.

Now he is adding a prestigious letter next to his name.

Nash, 26, was named captain of Team Canada late Sunday before a 3-2 warm-up win over France.

"It's not only an honor to play for Team Canada, but to be Team Canada captain is unreal," Nash said yesterday. "I don't think I can explain it in words."

Team Canada's coaching and management staffs, along with veteran players, were part of the process to name Nash, who has been the Blue Jackets' captain since late in the 2007-08 season.

This is Nash's fifth World Championship (2004, 2005, 2007, 2008). He also has played in two Olympics (2006, 2010) and one World Junior Championship (2002).
