Countryman Nuno Gomes has stated that the winger should jump at the chance to move to Serie A.

Former Portugal striker Nuno Gomes has urged compatriot Nani to leave Old Trafford, with a move to Italy the preferred destination.

There have been reports linking the tricky winger with switches to either Juventus or Inter, which the ex-Benfica forward feels would be a sensible move for the Manchester United midfielder.

"Nani approached by Juventus and Inter Milan? He is undergoing an unhappy period, cannot express himself in the best way,” Gomes told TMW.

"Leaving Manchester for Italy would be a good solution for him.”

Nani has been consistently linked with a move away from the Premier League champions over the last 12 months, with the Portuguese trickster not having the same impact on matches as he once had.

These rumblings were put to bed temporarily after the player signed a new five-year contract earlier in the year, but he has struggled for time on the pitch under David Moyes.
